  1. Tell me a bit about one of your favorites that you wrote.

Soul Awakening will always be my first love. One of my main characters is Chance Wright and he was the first character to ever show himself to me. Letting his and Skye’s story grow into a full fledged book was also an opportunity for me to grow personally.

Skye is a girl who has a parent go missing. Everyone thinks he’s dead and her and her mom are coping the best they can. She has to leave her friends behind when she’s made to spend the summer in another country with family she barely knows. After she gets there, family secrets and supernatural beings collide, making this a summer she may not survive.

  1. Writing is a difficult endeavor. What makes you continue to write?

In the beginning, my characters wouldn’t shut up. After that, it was my need to finish the story. I also enjoy the problem solving that’s involved in creating worlds and lives. There is something so magical and addictive about making a world all your own.

  1. What do you look forward to every day?

Waking up and knowing I have another day to love on the people I love. Having more time to try to get this thing called life right. To tell the stories that play out in my head. Hearing a song that will make me think of a book and/or characters that I wrote. Someone telling me they loved or liked my book. So many things.

  1. How do you define success? What makes you successful?

Success for me is doing something you enjoy and it being able to sustain you financially (which is relative to your needs and situation) and/or emotionally.

I’m doing something I truly enjoy and it’s very fulfilling. I realize I’m just starting out, so I may not be the definition of success yet, but every author had to start somewhere.

  1. Any tips for a newbie writer?

Try to turn off your inner critic, at least until you’re done with the first draft. You may never finish your book if you give in to it. Also, finding a mentor can be really helpful and reaffirming that you’re on the right track.

The amazing Patty Perrin

Hi Readers,

Check out my Interview with this fabulous Author, Patty Perrin.  Her books will delight you!  Thank you so much, Mrs. Perrin for joining me today.

1. Tell me a bit about one of your favorites that you wrote.

Terra’s Call is the first of a four-book Teen/YA Sci-fi series, and my first attempt at writing fiction. I learned so much as I wrote it, rewrote it, honed it, and was finally satisfied with it. It’s the story of four genetically enhanced teens who discover that they are the ones mentioned in an ancient Cherokee prophecy who would be tasked with saving the world from destroying itself. Except for the twins, Sky and Pax who grew up together, the teens meet for the first time in their senior year. They learn that truth is bigger than they thought, that they are capable of much more than they imagined, and that differences among the inhabitants of Terra (our Earth) don’t necessarily make them enemies – or friends.

I love writing for Young Adults and Teens because they have dreams and imagination, and if I can encourage their sense of wonder and give them something positive, uplifting, mysterious, adventurous, and with a touch of romance, then I’m satisfied.

2. Writing is a difficult endeavor. What makes you continue to write?

Before I finished the series, I couldn’t let my characters leave their task unfinished. The research alone was so much fun, thanks to my personal research assistant Google. I had no idea there are so many mysteries right here on our planet, or that quantum physics may hold answers to questions we don’t know how to ask yet.

Now that the series is written, I continue to have visions, ideas that keep coming, and the strong feeling that the Creator has partnered with me in writing. How could I not keep writing?

3. What do you look forward to every day?

Waking up, spending time with the Lord, and starting on my task list for the day. I tend to write in spurts, most notably the month of November, or National Novel Writing Month (Nanowrimo). I’ve started each of my fiction books with the 50,000 word challenge of that month. I finish it over the next few months, and then take a break to try to learn some marketing and get some of my own reading done.

4. How do you define success? What makes you successful?

When you’ve influenced the life of someone else for the better, that is success. When a young fan tells me I’m her favorite author, and she isn’t related to me – that is success. When my grandchildren read my books, write reviews and book reports on them… You get the picture. Success is having people read and enjoy the books I write. I wouldn’t discount being a best-selling author or earning a decent income from book sales, but I’m already successful

5. Any tips for a newbie writer?

Write! The more you write, the better you’ll get at it. Learn all you can about the craft of writing. Take classes, learn grammar and the difference between active and passive verbs, phrases and scenes. Learn about writing descriptions through action and dialogue. Once you’ve written something you’re excited about, get a lot of feedback, from Beta readers, friends, and editors, and don’t take criticism personally. View it as a learning experience, and don’t give up. You’re not too young to write well, and you’re not too old. Enjoy the journey.

Her captor, Todd, is a Dominant, who relishes his role. And Laura is special. He loves having submissives who challenge him and punishes Laura for trying to escape and cares for her when she stumbles—unable to see where she is going—in equal measures.

As the evening progresses, Todd keeps her off balance giving her out-of-this-world experiences, always making sure she climaxes. On the one hand, he caresses her and the next he slaps her. Being into BDSM, Laura finds it very arousing, but that goes against everything her head is telling her. She shouldn’t enjoy it—should she?

Excerpt:

As they went into a room, he stopped. Laura heaved a sigh of relief when the man bent his shoulder, and her feet touched the floor. Taking some trembling breaths beneath the gag, she wished he would remove it. It was getting wet and yucky. As she wondered what was going to happen next, she hoped he would take all her binds off so she could at least have a fighting chance against him.

The sound of the door clicking shut, and then locking, was loud—and final. Now she was alone in a room with a person who promised he would hurt her.

Her captor prodded her to move forward.

“Go on.”

Laura hesitated after a few steps, unsure what to expect. Uncertain what he expected of her—the man who had kidnapped her and brought her to a strange building, to an unfamiliar room.

Large hands folded around her shoulders from behind squeezing her in an oddly calming way before nudging her to go on, making her stumble. “Uh-uh, lady. Don’t stop now. There’s nothing in front of you.” His voice was deep, and silky smooth—like a dangerous predator. Gorgeous, but deadly.

Laura shivered as she hesitantly walked forward a few more paces, not really believing his words.

He grunted behind her. “So you don’t trust me, eh?”

No, I don’t! She hated being out of her comfort zone. Her boyfriend teased her she should let him take her out more often, particularly to new places she’d never been before. He reckoned she was missing out on life.

And now she was experiencing ‘life.’ She snorted to herself. It wasn’t what she thought her boyfriend had been suggesting, which was more along the lines of dinner in a nice restaurant, maybe a concert or even a club.

“I’ll have to cure you of this mistrust, my dear.”

Laura became aware his voice was coming from a different direction. He had moved ahead of her.

Making a sudden decision, Laura ran in the direction she considered the door to be. It took about five or six steps before her shoulder connected with a thud.

Ouch!

Turning around anxiously so she could get at the lock with her hands still tied behind her back, she fiddled with the handle. Her heart pounding, she desperately tried to get it open. She had almost succeeded when she heard running footsteps as he came up behind her slamming the door shut again, denying her freedom, keeping her prisoner.

Laura groaned. It had been a long shot at best.

“Where exactly do you think you’re going?” His voice was low and sardonic, clearly amused by her vain attempt to escape.

His arms were either side of her face, and he pressed his body against hers. She could feel his hard cock against her and shivered in reaction.

I nearly made it. Except where would she have gone once out, not being able to see anything? It was rather stupid, she knew.

His breathing was harsh against her cheek, although his voice sounded amused. “Oh, I see. You want to play games, do you? Don’t worry. We are going to play some great games. We’ve played catch—and now I’ve caught you. Clever me. Next comes leader of the pack. I’ll show you who is in charge around here, and then maybe we’ll play some ball games.” He laughed at his joke.

A slither of fear—or excitement went through her belly, knotting her stomach. I’m not aroused. I’m not!
