Another fabulous author interviewed!

Hello dear readers,

Recently, I had the chance to interview a USA Today Bestselling author. I have met this author and upon meeting her, I knew I had to share her with the world!

She is such a nice person and she writes great stuff, too! Be sure to check out her featured book and one click your copy, today.

Welcome Lynessa Layne.

1. How long have you been writing and what got you started?

I’ve been writing since I was a teen, but didn’t try my hand at novels until my 30th birthday. It was one of those, ‘what do I want to do with the rest of my life now that I’ve had babies’ type of introspections. Figured I’d get about five pages in and applaud my author heroes for what I could never do. Ten novels later, voila! I could write!

2. What genres do you write and why?

Cross-genre blending of romance, suspense, mystery and thriller is my favorite to write because I need a lot of stimulation when I read. I’m able to solve crime novels way too early, predict endings or plot twists, read way too fast and wish it would’ve lasted longer. I wrote the Don’t Close Your Eyes series for myself because of that need, then decided to share it with other readers. I didn’t even know the ending to my own series until I arrived upon it, so it’s fun when readers speculate the who-dun-it or marvel at twists they cannot predict.

When I’m not working on DCYE, I’m trying my hand at several projects of different genres including paranormal and Southern Gothic. Jury’s still out on whether I’ll use different pen names for those.

3. Tell me about the moment you found out you were a USA Today Bestselling author.

Wow. What to say? Even reading this question, I still get butterflies in the pit of my stomach along with the need to double check that it really happened LOL! One of my author besties, Mariah Kingsley, was the one to notify me. I hadn’t even seen it. Ironically, it was the brightest spot on the same day my husband lost his job, like a silver lining against a storm cloud. I’m supremely grateful and still tear up.

 4. Which book would you like readers to know more about and where can they buy it (buy link).

Off the bat, I’d say Don’t Close Your Eyes Don’t Close Your Eyes : Volume 1 of the Don’t Close Your Eyes Series (Don’t Close Your Eyes – A Slow Burn Enemies to Lovers Series) – Kindle edition by Layne, Lynessa, Cassidy, TK, Alford, AJ. Literature & Fiction Kindle eBooks @ Amazon.com. but first I’d point to Killer Kiss Killer Kiss (Don’t Close Your Eyes – A Slow Burn Enemies to Lovers Series) – Kindle edition by Layne, Lynessa. Romance Kindle eBooks @ Amazon.com.

Don’t Close Your Eyes is a series about a co-ed who falls in love with a hitman/crime syndicate don without knowing his true identity. Simultaneously, she falls for the undercover cop working to bring the hitman to justice. Killer Kiss, however, is a flirty (AND FREE) peek behind the curtain of the series in that you, as the reader, know something Kinsley, the heroine, doesn’t throughout a good portion of the series.

Readers who love MC villains, dueling crime syndicates, naive yet strong heroines and series along the lines of the Sookie Stackhouse (sans paranormal) sort, should enjoy this tumultuous slow burn that ignites into spicy, forbidden romance.

Don’t Close Your Eyes blurb

“A thrilling tale about an independent woman in a love triangle.” – Kirkus Reviews

Love at first sight is for hopeless romantics, not a hitman who’s amassed a fortune leading a double life. If only Kinsley Hayes hadn’t stumbled into my crosshairs ….
***
He was edgy, intense, older than me.
Since the night I’d fled my attraction to the handsome stranger, I prayed I’d see him again.
Then, one day, while I mixed drinks behind the bar, he walked in on the same night my crush confessed his feelings for me.
My simple life of college and track drained into an underworld of peril and passion so dangerous, I risked everything for him, including my life.
This is our story.

Makenna’s Trust – Titan Security #3

Makenna Bradford:

Get to NYC, do my job, prove the innocence or guilt of my target—a man believed to be the head of a Ponzi scheme with possible terrorist ties—and leave with no emotion whatsoever.  If only things were that easy.  I have to accept this case or quit.  A tough decision, given the man I’m supposed to guard and defend is my former long-time love and Dominant, Marcus Lombardi.  He shattered my heart causing me to run from the life we were supposed to have together—the life he now leads—as I needed time to figure things out, time for my heart to heal.

“You’re the only one who can tell if he’s lying, the only one he trusts.”  Too bad I can’t return that confidence.

Marcus Lombardi:

I should be worried about going to jail from bogus charges filed on behalf of the FBI and SEC for something I’ve never even heard of until now.  But all I can think about is the chance to see Makenna, be near her, and finally figure out what happened between us.  I’ve spent the last five years wondering what I did wrong, holding out for a chance to talk to her. Does she even care how she gutted me?  My life is literally in her hands now while she attempts to unravel the truth before I have to stand trial.  I pray my faith in her is justified and that some spark still exists, that all hope isn’t gone.  No matter what, she’ll always be mine.

About the Author~

Cynthia P. O’Neill grew up in a small town in South Florida and moved to Central Florida to attend college. There she met and married her friend, love, and soul mate. Together they enjoy time with their family, including their four-legged fur babe shih-tzu.

Her books draw on her background in healthcare and business, along with her husband’s engineering knowledge.

She writes all areas of Romance from tame to steamy.  A reader once said, “Her books are action, adventure, mystery, and suspense, with a Romantic element that ties it all together.  You’re continually kept on the edge of your seat not knowing where the story is headed next.”

Cynthia’s writing is very personal and close to her heart. Regular life is the inspiration for her books, through watching others to living it, but her imagination takes it to new heights, opening up possibilities that would normally not exist.

When she’s not writing, Cynthia’s a voracious reader who loves to spend time with her family, cook, bbq, create new recipes, play the piano, ride bikes, dance, and sing. She can often be spotted at local Amusement parks and the beach.

Life is rough

Hi Readers,

Just coming at you with some thoughts. Life has been really tough for a lot of us, lately and I have not been immune. My anxiety was doing much better for a while there and I was able to whittle down the medication I was taking since my dad passed away in February to only 1/4 of a tablet but, sadly, I was never able to truly come off the medication.

Since then, I have felt my anxiety come back with all the additional stresses of my day job, pressures of added duties and responsibilities and additional trainings that I don’t want to participate in and that seem redundant since I’ve already completed this type of training years previous.

It has been rough not having parents at my young age but I have tried to cope and now I find myself increasing my medication and taking a sedative at times all so I can sleep at night. If I don’t get my rest, I can’t work, can’t make the money to keep going.

However, it is at times like this, that I try to focus on what I am thankful for. They say to list 5 things that I am thankful for when life gets to be a bit too much. I am listing 3 so this blog post doesn’t get too long.

Here’s my list. I would love to see yours.

1.A husband that seems perfectly matched for me in every way.

In a world where finding someone of quality can be difficult if not impossible, I hit the jackpot when I met Jim. You know you met the right person when people meet you both for the first time and say to you how great you are as a couple. Yup, that’s my Jim. He’s not perfect but neither am I. Our personalities compliment each other, amazingly well. I know I am very fortunate to have found the right man.

2.The best dog in the world, for our lifestyle.

After my beautiful German shepherd/ Golden retriever mix, Kaley died on September 11, 1995, I tried fostering dogs in the hopes to make them my forever friend yet each one had issues that Jim and I couldn’t handle. I finally gave up after our 5ht or 6th try and decided having another dog was not for me. It was a sad decision for me as I love animals and a life without one seems so empty but after all the behavioral issues we encountered with the ones we invited into our home and our busy lifestyle that kept us from not only affording assistance but having that extra time they needed, I was done searching. Yet, it was months later that I sent up the wish for a dog that complimented our lifestyle and placed it in His hands for I had no idea what I was doing, apparently and was horrible at making decisions. I said “if it’s meant to be it will happen” and left it at that not expecting anything to happen.

That fateful day when I followed Jim into a large brand name pet store, not wanting to see dogs and not interested, I met my Molly. I was actually looking at the dog next to her. Not interested in adopting the dog, I was instead enamored with the German shepherd puppy because, well, it reminded me of my Kaley. I took a look at the dog next to his cage- a white and brown dog but wasn’t interested until Jim, who was crouched in front of her cage said to me “I keep trying to get her attention but she keeps looking at you.” That’s when I formally met Molly- a previous stray that was adopted and then returned to the rescue group in a matter of days. She had been on Prozac for her anxiety issues. I am happy to say she has never taken that medication with me. She is the most amazing dog! And she even has her own hashtag on Instagram. Check out her pictures. #mollylawyerrocks

3.A roof over our heads when prices are skyrocketing

We bought our home six years ago and even though I’m not sure if it’ll be our permanent home, I know there is no way we could afford buying a home now. Since we bought the house, homes in our area have increased by at least 100K. We bought our home at a high price back then but now- thank goodness- we have equity and were able to re-finance the home, as well. I am happy for our house and the relatively nice neighborhood we live in. Most of our neighbors are nice and quiet and it is a safe neighborhood, for the most part. I am very fortunate.

I would love to hear what your top three are, if you’d like to share. Some days can sure be a struggle but try to keep a grateful heart. There is a lot to be thankful for.

Take care, my friends.
