Brand new book for charity

Hello Readers,

I have great news for you! I am part of a new anthology with three authors. We created this book with all romance stories- the theme? The current pandemic. It’s love during the current pandemic and highlights of my story are below. All proceeds from this book will go to a charity fighting COVID-19!

** Pre-order your copy of our book and enjoy my story ***

My story contribution is titled “When You Least Expect It.”  It is a sweet romance between two former high school classmates who meet up again years later.

Collin used to assist Katerina (Kat to most) with Math when she needed it.  He always thought Kat was beautiful and she was one of the few that would say “Hi” to him in the halls when others didn’t acknowledge him.  While Kat was popular, Collin was more of a loner but fate has granted him a second chance for Kat is back in town-

Delivering medical supplies for Kat’s ailing mother, Collin gets to know Kat and they talk.  The Pandemic has made things difficult in terms of visiting and dating but Kat shows an interest and they soon become friends.  Still, Collin has a secret- a hidden topic he doesn’t like to talk about.  His disability is something few understand but Kat does.  Will she take a chance on a man who never thought he had one?   Or will she fall, instead, for Connor- the rival after her heart? I loved writing the story with a person with a disability and though I never name his disability, you get hints of it throughout the story enough to tell you what it is.  I think you will love this sweet story and I look forward to hearing your thoughts about the story.

The incredible Christine King**

Hi Readers,

I met an author recently and I am so excited to share some info. with you about her.

She has just signed on with Foundations Publishing, LLC (an amazing Indie Publisher) and she will be writing  a series of six children’s books with Foundation books in July, with her nine year old daughter as co author.  Yes, you read that right- her nine year old daughter.  Isn’t that amazing!

~*~ In the meantime, check out my Interview with her and more about Christine on her website ~*~

http://christinekingauthor.wixsite.com/mysite

** 1. Tell me a bit about one of your favorites that you wrote.

I guess my new book will be my favourite, it is due out in July and called ‘Gem masters and the search for the unicorns tears.’ I love it as I wrote it and its sequels with my nine year old daughter. It is a fantasy story with a strong female lead, which is important to me as I want my daughter to have positive role models to follow that are her age and her gender. Keep watching Foundation books website for updates.

** 2. Writing is a difficult endeavor. What makes you continue to write?

I love it, writing with my daughter has been a new and exciting experience. The ideas in my  head need to be written down or else those stories and those characters are gone forever.

** 3. What do you look forward to every day?

Being alive, every day is a gift. I try to remind myself every day that I am a miracle, we are all miracles. Every one of us has beat the odds and are lucky to have been given this chance to live, we shouldn’t waste it.

** 4. How do you define success? What makes you successful?

I hope one day to be a successful writer, it would be lovely to have a few best selling books, but I feel I am a success in other areas. I juggle my responsibilities and I am proud of my husband, my daughter and my life. I am happy and I have a wonderful life, that is success.

** 5. Any tips for a newbie writer?

Keep writing. Listen to feedback, develop and grow. Don’t give up, be positive and just keep writing.

The amazing TJ Penn

Hi Readers,

Do you love horror?  How about a story with elements of horror- just enough to make your spine tingle?

Well, I had the recent honor of interviewing Author TJ Penn.  Check out my interview with her, here and then take a look at her featured book.

TJ Penn Author Picture

** 1. Tell me a bit about one of your favorites that you wrote.

Halcyon College would be my choice. It’s a horror in a way. I love horror be it movies or books. I was working on an anthology story when I seen a picture of this college. Needless to say I stopped the other story and Halcyon College was born. It was one of those stories that wrote itself.

** 2. Writing is a difficult endeavor.  What makes you continue to write?

For me it’s an escape in away. I get to live in the worlds that are in my head for a little while and maybe I can help someone else escape for a little while.

** 3. What do you look forward to every day?

I would say I look forward to different things each day. Some days it’s getting time to write, others it may be going to eat lunch with my best friend.

** 4. How do you define success? What makes you successful?

How I see success is most likely different from everyone else. I don’t see success in money or being a best seller. I would love to have a best seller but I don’t believe you have to have one to call yourself successful.. I call it a success when an author has the guts to hit that publish button. I also call it a success just sitting down and seeing a story through to the end.

** 5. Any tips for a newbie writer?

Write every day. I don’t care if it’s a list of things to do just write. The other thing would be to ignore negativity. You will receive it there is no way around it. Just remember you have a story to tell and no one but you can tell it. Just write for you!

Just in time for Valentine’s Day!

Hi Readers,

Recently, I had the opportunity of interviewing this fantastic author:  Katherine Smits.  Check out my interview with her and her latest book, just in time for Valentine’s Day!!

**  1. Tell me a bit about one of your favorites that you wrote.

Wow! Starting right off with a hard question. This is kind of liking having to pick one child as a favorite. Right now, Water Desires is the story I’m most focused on because release day is March 4. However, Water Dreams was my debut novel, so that’s like my first born. And my other books and stories, both published and not yet published, are all special in their own ways, so really I could pick any of them to talk about. Since Water Dreams is the first book in the Love’s Siren Song series, I’ll tell you a little about it.

Water-phobic Nik discovers mermaids and mermen plan to make her a lab experiment. They can’t take no for an answer and will go to any lengths to get what they need.In the small Florida town of Tarpon Springs, Greek-American Nik Aronopulos avoids water. She never goes to the beach and shuns restaurants with views of the Gulf of Mexico. So, why would merfolk want to study her? When a gorgeous, dark-haired, infuriatingly arrogant merman tells her it’s her ability to stay out of water that interests his people, she’s stunned. There’s nothing special about her… or so she thinks. Bas is the merman tasked with obtaining Nik’s cooperation. He needs her to help his people overcome their greatest weakness—the need to rejuvenate in the Gulf so they won’t dehydrate and die. Although they can shapeshift to look like humans and have advantages over land dwellers, their dependence on water keeps them from freedom. There’s just one problem – the girl he’s meant to capture is hooking his heart.

When Bas is shot by a bullet meant for Nik, she must face her greatest fear to help him. Her decision plunges her into a desperate journey where her desire for self-preservation is weighed against her growing feelings for this merman who once meant her harm and what this might mean for all of them.If you like the mystery and suspense of the television series Siren, but you want more romance, Water Dreams will sweep you away.

** 2. Writing is a difficult endeavor.

What makes you continue to write?I wanted to write from the time I was old enough to read. However, I put it off while I raised a family and pursued my career as a clinical social worker. After I retired, I decided to try writing a novel. The experience was so amazing, I never wanted to stop, and I still don’t. Writing is difficult, but it’s the kind of hard work that provides immediate rewards. I see the results of my efforts right away. Unlike, say exercise.

** 3. What do you look forward to every day?

I look forward to sitting down to the computer and coming up with new characters and new plots. The best times are when the characters take over and the words flow. Hours pass in what feels like minutes and I’m as surprised as if I haven’t written those words. It’s exciting!

** 4. How do you define success? What makes you successful?

To me, success is finishing the project. Holding a physical book that I have created out of nothing is one of the most incredible experiences I have ever had. Knowing that I’m leaving this legacy for my grandchildren and greats who may never know me in person, humbles me. I’ll be present in those books in a real and tangible way.

** 5. Any tips for a newbie writer?

Everyone says this, but it’s the only thing that really matters: read. Read novels in your genre. Read novels in other genres. Read nonfiction. Read books about writing. Read advertising on your morning cereal box. Read everything and use it all to help you hone your craft.

Katherine Smits Book Cover Image_WaterDesires_LRG

Water Desires is the second book in the Love’s Siren Song series. The books don’t have to be read in order, but book two contains some spoilers for the first book.

When an unknown Nerei (merman) carries an unconscious and badly injured Bas in from the Aegean Sea, Nik realizes she must get him to an island in the Atlantic where a hidden spring of healing water will restore her Nerei lover. At the same time, her adoptive father is dying from a boating accident in her home town of Tarpon Springs, and he’s asking for her. While battling a weird illness which antibiotics won’t cure, Nik must figure out a way to save Bas and get home to help her father.

When Bas follows Nik to Florida, he is forced to keep his distance from her. He has already escaped one death sentence for having a relationship with a human, and he can’t risk another one. Still, he’s furious when Nik turns to her old friend, a mage Bas dislikes, to help her unravel the hidden truth behind her father’s accident.

Water Desires is Book Two in the Love’s Siren Song Series. The thrilling sequel to the award-winning Water Dreams will drag you under and not let you up for air until the end. If you like mermen, mages and magical romance, you’ll love this book.

Hanging out with Melissa Banczak

Hi Readers,

You know what I like just as much as reading?  It’s spending time with great authors like Melissa Banczak.  Recently, I was able to catch up with her for an interview.  Let me share my experience with you.

Melissa Banczak_Author Image

Melissa, thank you so much for the opportunity to steal you away from your busy life to answer some questions for my readers.  So, let’s begin.

  1. Tell me a bit about one of your favorites that you wrote.

I was a screenwriter for ten years so there were a lot of great characters that I created and still think about. Some produced, some not. I switched to novels a couple of years ago when I’d had enough of that life. So far, I’ve only written one full length book and a prequel, so I’m going with the novel, How to Sex Your Snake. It started as a nanowrimo back in 2004 with a place holder title of, The Aha Moment – A woman falls in love with a guy who collects snakes and then gets caught up in a murder mystery, all while trying to figure out what she wants out of life. I hit the word count but the story was only 2/3rds of the way done and I had no idea how to end it. So I set it aside. Then a couple of years later, my husband left me in charge of his 100 or so snakes (most were babies) while he was out of the country for a year.

One of the first days, I walked into the bathroom and found myself nose to nose with a 9 foot boa hanging from the bathroom light. My daughter had put the snake in the shower and when she’d been done, the snake had climbed up on the light to dry. Everyday was something new and by the time my husband got back, I had the changes I needed for my book, a great new title, and a heroine who had no one to blame for her misery but herself thanks to her bad choices. Maybe because June is completely my creation, she is my favorite. There won’t be an actress to make choices and change how she interacts with the world. She’s all mine.

2.  Writing is a difficult endeavor.  What makes you continue to write?

I have no idea! I’m horribly lazy. Notes from my readers help. People asking for the next in the series or what else I’m working on. Seeing sales on my amazon dashboard and knowing I have no idea who those people are. I’m a tiny bit ambitious so that helps me pop my computer in the case and head out to the coffee house. I hate the idea of my characters being stuck in limbo. (my head)

  1. What do you look forward to every day?

Chocolate cake! Some days, one of the only ways to get out the door, is to tell myself I’ll get a slice of chocolate cake and eat it while I write. I never do, though. I look at the cake in the case and think about how great it would taste. And then at the last minute, I change my mind. I think about how crappy I’ll feel with all that sugar in my system. And I just get tea. But, I absolutely love chocolate cake, so on some days, the very idea of it is the only way to get me on my way. I never write at home. Too many distractions.

  1. How do you define success? What makes you successful?

Selling books! As long as people are buying I’m a happy camper. I have enough sales on Amazon to suggest that I’m building an audience. Hopefully, they want more. As I write the sequel to How to Sex Your Snake, I’m world building two additional series. I plan on holding back both until they’re complete then rapid releasing. Probably one every month. When readers find a series they like they want to binge. I know I do.

  1. Any tips for a newbie writer?

You know your story. Don’t ever let anyone talk you out of telling it. Yeah, an editor will help you shape it but if there’s something that you really don’t want to change, fight for it. But understand why you want to keep whatever it is. And be able to explain the reason. If you can’t, you don’t need whatever it was.

A Halloween Horror Treat!

Hi Readers,

Love Halloween?  How about some thrilling, heartbeat racing, horror?  Well that’s what you will find with this scream-worthy author Steven Evans.  Check out my interview with him:

  1. Tell me a bit about one of your favorites that you wrote.
  • I’d have to say that the fairytale retellings have been my favorite.

Just trying to continue and add to a story that is already known

world wide and keep the integrity of I intact even if you’ve changed

the basis of it, it’s an adventure in itself.

2. Writing is a difficult endeavor. What makes you continue to write?

  • The stories keep speaking and demanding to take their place in the

world of published books. If even one person enjoys what I write, it

all becomes worthwhile.

3. What do you look forward to every day?

  • I’m kind of a boring person. Just like to have low stress and no big

worries. I really like no plans just seeing what comes my way.

4. How do you define success? What makes you successful?

  • Success, that’s just an oxymoron. Everyone has a different idea of

what success entails. I guess, I’d have to say, to me, success is more

if I can actually get the story out of my head the way it’s supposed to

be.

5.  Any tips for a newbie writer?

  • The only advice I’m really going to give is two things…

First: If you believe in yourself then you can never give up. Always

keep striving to improve your style.

Second: Don’t be afraid to ask your peers for help. Many indie authors

are happy to give advice. This is also a two part answer. Never believe

you are so talented or popular that you forget to be grateful. Remember,

no matter how hard you’ve worked to get to this point, you haven’t done

it alone. There have been people helping throughout your journey.

Tamara’s Top Ten *Must Reads* for 2017

Hi Readers,

With 2017 almost over, I looked over the many books I read this year and came up with this spectacular list of special favorites I can highly suggest for your TBR list.  I am enthused to be able to showcase these great books to you- several which came as a happy surprise to me.  This list includes many indie authors and several new to me authors with one exception.  I wish you much happy reading as you explore and enjoy these fabulous writers and what they have in store for youMy Top Ten Reads- 2017

  1. Eyes Open by Tessa Valis

**  This author is so amazing.  And if you love this book she has several more with the main characters, Kira and Carter.  These two are smoking hot and their love is forever -what we all want to have.

  1. Filthy Scrooge by Taryn Quinn

**What a delightfully naughty, almost taboo-like tale.  Boy this was sexy!  One of those books you want to savor reading under the covers in privacy, away from family and friends.

  1. Little Sister Next Door by Riley Rollins

**  A new to me author, I thought this was a sweet tale with some steamy scenes that kept the story exciting.

  1. Home for the Howlidays by various authors (boxed set)

**  I have only read the first book in this series but can highly recommend already.  Definitely a great gift set.  If you love your alpha males and you enjoy shifters, this is the one to get.

  1. Lightning Dragon by Charlene Hartnady

** Okay… Yes, I had to read this book because the protagonist’s first name is my own.  But that aside, this book was Awesome!  It was so great, I didn’t stop with this one and ended up reading several more in the Bride Hunt series and let me tell you- they are all great!

  1. Redemption: A Golden Beach Novel by Kim Loraine

** Okay, there were parts of this book I wasn’t too keen on- like how the main characters acted, sometimes, in their relationship, but overall, I do recommend this book if you love romance.  These two are not perfect but they love each other and in the end that’s all that matters.

  1. Fallon’s Fall (Space Pirates Series Book Two) by Jordan Summers

** Holy crap!!  First of all, I LOVE Jordan Summers.  But omg, this novel was rockin!  And either it was a short read or I was sooo into the book, I couldn’t put it down.  I wanted so much more of Fallon!  And there is something about his anatomy- his horns to be exact- that surprised me.  Mmmm.

  1. Dark Captive by Jennifer Denys

** Let me just say I am not into stories with BDSM genre.  That is; however, my own personal preference.  I included this book in the list because the ending surprised me.   It was well thought out it and is a short read with an interesting protagonist who has a secret you won’t discover until the end.  Really well done.

  1. Ice Planet Barbarians: A SciFi Alien Romance by Ruby Dixon

** Interesting book.  Priced right and there is a part in here, ladies, ~wooh~.   Let me just say, what this barbarian does to his mate the second he meets her….  it’s a surprise and let me just tell you- it’s HOT!!

  1. Creature of the Night by Jeffery Martin Botzenhart

**  A sweet, beautiful, short tale from an Indie author.  If you like Beauty and the Beast, you must read this one!  And the ending holds a surprise.  The love that the two main characters hold for each other will have you wishing you had your own “beast.”
