  1. Tell me a bit about one of your favorites that you wrote.                                                                                                                                               I like to think I haven’t written my favourite yet. I love Kira and Carter like they are family. Carter has been with me a very long time so I love writing anything with them in it. But my favourite hasn’t been written yet. It’ll test me and push me. It’ll make me cry and bring me joy. I push myself a little more each time I write so I’ll get my favourite one day 🙂
  2. Writing is a difficult endeavor. What makes you continue to write?                                                                                                                                                                   I started writing when I was signed off work with depression. I found my love of reading again and that sparked the fire to write. I have many half finished pieces dating back to my teens but it was when I was in the darkest part of my life that I found a light in reading, an escape. It helped me find my own story and I wanted to tell it. Eyes Open started one night when I was just typing out random thoughts and it actually ended up being a whole book. The first long story I’d ever finished and it lead to more. It’s knowing that my writing can let someone escape that keeps me writing. Someone helped me escape, so I want to give others that chance.
  3. What do you look forward to every day?

I look forward to seeing my family everyday. When I wake up the first two things I see are my husband and my cat, closely followed by my kids. I look forward to hearing the bird song before I go to work and I look forward to finding chances to pay it forward. I make it my goal to do one good deed each day for someone else. no personal gain, just to pay the good feeling forward. It can be holding a door open or letting someone out of a junction at rush hour. small things make big changes.

4. How do you define success? What makes you successful?

Success is different to everyone. Some days success is just being able to get up and make it out of the door in the morning. I like to think of success as a series of small victories that are progressively more numerous than the failures. Although it’s the failures that teach you how to achieve the success and value it more. Being humble and appreciative of what I have makes me successful in my eyes.

5. Any tips for a newbie writer?

Have faith in your story. Writing comes with time, experience and knowledge but stories come from imagination, dreams and a wealth of life experience. A well known gentleman who created an entire world on a disc (R.I.P Terry) once wrote back to me when I asked for advice and his words stuck with me. Write about what you know and life a full life. I now know the wisdom in his words. Life experience is a pool you can draw from. Heart-ache, joy, relief, sadness, grief, love, lust, hatred, anger, they are all ink in your pen, words in your arsenal. A full life is what everyone should live for. Live on the edge of your comfort zone and keep pushing the boundary back. The founder of the Scouting Association, Baden-Powell once said:

Try to leave this world a little better than you found it and, when your turn comes to die, you can die happy in feeling that at any rate you have not wasted your time but have done your best.”

I believe in everything we do in this life we should try to better ourselves and make the world a little better 🙂

Tamara’s Top Ten *Must Reads* for 2017

Hi Readers,

With 2017 almost over, I looked over the many books I read this year and came up with this spectacular list of special favorites I can highly suggest for your TBR list.  I am enthused to be able to showcase these great books to you- several which came as a happy surprise to me.  This list includes many indie authors and several new to me authors with one exception.  I wish you much happy reading as you explore and enjoy these fabulous writers and what they have in store for youMy Top Ten Reads- 2017

  1. Eyes Open by Tessa Valis

**  This author is so amazing.  And if you love this book she has several more with the main characters, Kira and Carter.  These two are smoking hot and their love is forever -what we all want to have.

  1. Filthy Scrooge by Taryn Quinn

**What a delightfully naughty, almost taboo-like tale.  Boy this was sexy!  One of those books you want to savor reading under the covers in privacy, away from family and friends.

  1. Little Sister Next Door by Riley Rollins

**  A new to me author, I thought this was a sweet tale with some steamy scenes that kept the story exciting.

  1. Home for the Howlidays by various authors (boxed set)

**  I have only read the first book in this series but can highly recommend already.  Definitely a great gift set.  If you love your alpha males and you enjoy shifters, this is the one to get.

  1. Lightning Dragon by Charlene Hartnady

** Okay… Yes, I had to read this book because the protagonist’s first name is my own.  But that aside, this book was Awesome!  It was so great, I didn’t stop with this one and ended up reading several more in the Bride Hunt series and let me tell you- they are all great!

  1. Redemption: A Golden Beach Novel by Kim Loraine

** Okay, there were parts of this book I wasn’t too keen on- like how the main characters acted, sometimes, in their relationship, but overall, I do recommend this book if you love romance.  These two are not perfect but they love each other and in the end that’s all that matters.

  1. Fallon’s Fall (Space Pirates Series Book Two) by Jordan Summers

** Holy crap!!  First of all, I LOVE Jordan Summers.  But omg, this novel was rockin!  And either it was a short read or I was sooo into the book, I couldn’t put it down.  I wanted so much more of Fallon!  And there is something about his anatomy- his horns to be exact- that surprised me.  Mmmm.

  1. Dark Captive by Jennifer Denys

** Let me just say I am not into stories with BDSM genre.  That is; however, my own personal preference.  I included this book in the list because the ending surprised me.   It was well thought out it and is a short read with an interesting protagonist who has a secret you won’t discover until the end.  Really well done.

  1. Ice Planet Barbarians: A SciFi Alien Romance by Ruby Dixon

** Interesting book.  Priced right and there is a part in here, ladies, ~wooh~.   Let me just say, what this barbarian does to his mate the second he meets her….  it’s a surprise and let me just tell you- it’s HOT!!

  1. Creature of the Night by Jeffery Martin Botzenhart

**  A sweet, beautiful, short tale from an Indie author.  If you like Beauty and the Beast, you must read this one!  And the ending holds a surprise.  The love that the two main characters hold for each other will have you wishing you had your own “beast.”

Christmas Memories

Hi Readers,

Do you have a favorite Christmas memory?

I posed this question to my Street Team earlier tonight.

I absolutely love Christmas and I shared with my group one of my favorite memories from when I was a kid but there are so many more like the time when my mom and I went Christmas Caroling through a volunteer group at our church.  It was wonderful.  There was nothing professional or organized about it.  Just a group of kind volunteers who wanted to spread Christmas cheer.  We followed each other, driving our individual cars to several homes and even to a local shelter to sing our hearts out.  Whether we were out of tune or not, no one cared and the smiles we received for our efforts lit up each home, each facility.

My best memory of that beautiful day was the last home we headed to.  It belonged to a man who was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease.  I remember entering his bedroom and seeing him lying in bed.  We waited as the nurse propped him up on his pillow and he watched us, all huddled in one corner of the room.  It was the first time I had ever met anyone with a debilitating disease and I was humbled by the experience.  After we sung several songs, so out of tune and uncoordinated the angels must’ve blushed, the nurse looked over at us in the silence and said he was smiling.  It almost brings tears to my eyes, once again, while I am writing this.  He has since passed but I truly hope we were able to bring a little bit of peace, a little bit of joy in his life amidst his final battle.

My mom and I tried to volunteer the following year and hoped for the same enjoyment but sadly, the church replaced the random acts of kindness from good people wanting to sing Christmas carols with the professional church choir and it was not the same.

However, I hold this memory of that special day and that precious man in my heart and that is the spirit of Christmas.  Of giving, of loving, and of spreading joy and comfort to those around us.

I truly hope you are surrounded by such love and joy and miracles, too, for each one of you deserves a lifetime of happiness.  This is what I wish for you.  Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas, my friends.  Be safe and enjoy the rest of the year.
